This is a Photoshop tutorial (using Photoshop CS3) about creating beautiful backgrounds using Photoshop's gradient tool in difference blending mode, and fractals.
Many friends have asked how I do these types of things in my own artwork. Well, now you know! Enjoy. You'll need to click DOWNLOAD to get the fullsized, readable image.
I love your tutorials. They are easy to follow and it gives you the opportunity to try something new. I have kept both your jewel tutorial and golden accents close by as they are one of the best I've seen on this site. Take care. Now what i'd love to see is a 'basic' tutorial for factual hahaha as I'd love to use them but I have no clue with 1. what program to get and 2. how to even use it.
A couple of the easier ones to use are Xaos (Macintosh) and Tierazon (Windows). They are both free downloads, and if you need help using either, you'll find tutorials by googling (now there's a new dictionary word) "tierazon tutorial".
Wow, thanks for this wonderful tutorial! Reminds me of the fractal drawings you did on Caedes.net as well.
I have a question, though - when you "layer" the gradients, do you lower the opacity so you can see the ones below? Do you try the different gradient shapes (like radial?).
Thanks again.

When did it suddenly become cool to hate everything? It's a growing problem, especially in the entertainment world, and no one benefits from an increasingly hard to please, pessimistic audience.
A Special Collection of photographs i found this month that still haunts my mind. Show them some love There are always some i can`t include due to space, i try to make the features under 50 deviations to give them better exposure
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article.
In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
